Hello World! My name is Cameron (not Carmen, Karen or Cam)…...just Cameron! I am into hand lettering, illustrating, pen/ink and surface pattern design. If I am not making something or learning something new (thank you Skill Share)...then I am searching for the best Double IPA, power napping or going on new adventures with friends (like Goat yoga, marathons, roller derby or Improv).
My journey started in an artistic house surrounded by a creative family. I can remember going to work with my Dad and using his super sharp colored pencils to color in the elevations of his architectural renderings...making sure the shading was just right. My mom had a fabric store and although I was too young to sew, I was in pattern heaven. I diligently used my left-handed scissors to cut fabric and decorate an entire shoe box village. Designing each box with coordinating patterns, textures and colors. I loved opening the Crayola water color set and painting typical childhood images like trees and flowers or taking the paint-by-numbers paints and using them to make my own paintings.
I graduated with an Art degree from Arizona State University and I loved every class. After graduation, I started painting murals in homes as well as custom dog portraits and house portraits. Soon my attention called to computers and I started working in a marketing studio where Creative Suite became my new best friend. I have created all types of marketing items from wine labels, CD covers, shampoo boxes, posters, t-shirts and logos to name a few. While graphic design may be my day job, my passion for art and illustration is stronger than ever.
I really enjoy creating things that bring joy, laughter or peace of mind to the person who receives it. I am inspired by my world around me like my family, friends and my misunderstood sarcasm.
